Income's Outcome
Income's Outcome is a project that I started in 2012 when a gallery that I worked with asked me to make an installation for a booth at the Cologne Art Fair that year. I looked at my bank account balance that day and decided to draw everything that I spent that money on. When they started to sell the drawings before the fair, I made the next generations of each drawing sold with information about who bought each one, when, where, and for how much money. I then made drawings of everything that I spent that particular money on, and stopped drawing when that money ran out. I continued this process over 4 years and 17 exhibitions and art fairs, generating a total of 388 drawings. The green stripes each represent one dollar coming in and the red stripes each represent a dollar that I spent. The panels that are all green show the income that starts each set of drawings. Each time a batch of drawings is sold, it creates a window into my life where I draw what I spend money on until that money is gone and then the window closes.
